Where to meet

Kenai Sockeye, and early season Silver trips will be from a private boat slip on the lower Kenai River, with free parking, please limit your party to 1 vehicle if possible. Other trips will be from one of the several boat launch locations in the area depending on the season and target species. I will let you know well in advance where we will be meeting.

Lower Kenai Location

Prices do not include 3% Kenai Peninsula

Borough sales tax.

We offer 10% discount to active duty/retired military, as well as first responders.

What we provide

All rods and fishing gear

We provide quality fly rods, as well as conventional gear, and all tackle/flies needed for the target species and conditions for the day. If you have your own gear you’d like to bring let’s chat, but I do recommend using the provided equipment. We have a very unique fishery and specific setups that we use, which can vary day to day. Feel free to give me a call and I’d be happy to offer advice on gear.

Waders

Quality, breathable chest waders/ or wading pants and wading boots are provided for any trips that wading may be encountered. King and Silver salmon trips are usually fished from the boat and waders may not be needed that day. Upon booking, I will get everyone‘s sizes prior to the trip to ensure they are ready to go on your arrival at the fishing site.

Personal flotation device

We provide comfortable, low profile PFDs for your safety. While not required by law to be worn on every section of river we operate on, they are strongly encouraged.* Alaska’s cold water is no joke, and safety is our first priority.

* Children under 13 are required by law to wear a PFD while in the boat.

What you should bring

Rain Gear

Our weather in Alaska can be a little unpredictable, and rain is possible at any time. I recommend bringing rain gear with you even on sunny days, there is dry storage space available in the boat if it’s not needed. On sockeye trips you will be wearing waders so rain pants are not necessary. When we have had recent rain, the boat seats can be wet, so rain pants are always recommended. Rubber boots are also recommended.

Warm layers

Temps can vary widely in the same day, and depending on the season. Even in June and July the mornings can be chilly. Having an extra warm layer such as a fleece jacket or insulated puffy can come in handy. Fleece pants, or sweatpants and warm socks are recommended to wear under your waders, even on hot weather days the glacial fed water is still icy cold.

Other/Miscellaneous

-Sunglasses are strongly recommended, I encourage everyone to wear them, or at least your regular glasses to prevent accidental injuries. Hooks/ tackle can come flying out of the water, with limited time to react. Clear safety glasses are available on the boat if you forget them.

-Your favorite camera if you have one.

-Gloves and hat are also recommended, even if you’re not wearing them for fishing the boat ride can get chilly while moving to different spots.

-Any other personal items that may be needed in the duration of your trip.

Food, beverages

Bring whatever food/snacks, beverages you would like. (Alcohol is ok, as long as it doesn’t become a safety  issue).

Cooler and Ice to transport your catch

If we are salmon fishing and you want to bring home some filets, bring a cooler to leave in your vehicle for the way to your lodging/processor. I will keep your fish cold and fresh on the boat, but if it sits in a warm car on the way home the quality will suffer.

I can recommend fish processors that are most conveniently located to your lodging. They will vac pack/freeze your salmon or some offer specialty processing as well. They can also arrange shipping if needed.

Fishing License

Please have your license purchased from ADFG before your trip, as well as a King Salmon stamp if needed.
