Born and raised in Alaska, I grew up fishing the Kenai River and the smaller streams in the area with my family in the 1980s. After picking up fly fishing around 7 years old, it has continued to consume my life to this day. In my early twenties, I began a career as a professional Firefighter/Paramedic, as the flexible schedule allowed me to spend most of the summer and fall fishing the Kenai River and waving sticks at fish. The schedule also allowed me the opportunity to become a fishing guide, starting out in 2017. What began as a part time summer job turned into my full time career. Now, I spend most of the year guiding fishing trips along the Kenai River, as well as Alaska Big Game hunting before and after the fishing season.
We operate out of a 20' Aluminum power boat and a 20' Aluminum Drift boat, both custom made by Willie Boats in Central Point, OR. Our boats are powered by reliable and quiet Yamaha outboards. They are safe, roomy, and stable, and as comfortable of a fishing platform you will find on the river. Both of our boats are set up to comfortably fish 4 anglers, and can transport up to 5 if needed. All of our boats are equipped with, and exceed the required Coast Guard safety equipment.
We provide quality fly rods and reels from top brands such as Orvis and Sage, as well as conventional gear from G-Loomis, TFO, and Shimano, perfectly set up for fishing the Kenai River. All tackle, flies, and lures are tailored for the target species and conditions of the day.
If you have your own gear you’d like to use, you are welcome to bring it along, but I recommend using our provided equipment. We have a very unique fishery on the Kenai River and specific setups that can vary day to day. Feel free to reach out, and I’d be happy to offer advice on gear.
Quality, breathable chest waders or wading pants and wading boots are provided for any trips on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers that require standing in the water. Our lower Kenai location has a dry covered area to change into waders upon your arrival.
King and Silver salmon trips on the Kenai River are usually fished from the boat, and waders may not be necessary that day.
Upon booking, I will confirm everyone’s sizes prior to the trip to ensure you are ready to go upon your arrival at the fishing site.
We provide comfortable, low profile PFDs for your safety while enjoying the Kenai River. Although it is not required by law to wear them on every section of the river we operate on, we strongly encourage their use. Alaska’s cold water is no joke, and safety is our first priority. *Children under 13 are required by law to wear a PFD while in the boat.
Kenai Sockeye and August/September Silver trips will launch from a private boat slip near the town of Soldotna on the lower Kenai River, with free parking available. Kasilof River trips, along with some Kenai River trips, may also start from various public boat launch locations in the area, depending on the season and target species. These public locations offer parking for a small fee. I will inform you well in advance about our meeting point. All boat launch locations are within a 30-minute drive from Soldotna.
